Dr. Lou Gilpin studied the active faulting and seismicity of southern Alaska, earthquake induced landsliding of Montana, as well as coastal geology of California, Alaska, and Vanuatu, South Pacific. His research background background in earthquake areas of the world combined with his 25 years of practical engineering geology experience in the Bay Area provide an invaluable resource for Bay Area engineering projects. Some of our recent projects include:

  • An evaluation of landslide hazards for residential developments and commercial facilities through out the greater San Francisco Bay area and the foothills of the Sierra Nevada.
  • Consultation for rock slope stability at residential sites in San Francisco and Peninsula.
  • An evaluation of rock slope hazards behind the New Industries Building on Alcatraz Island.
  • Highly acclaimed Quarry Reclamation in Richmond, California with oversight by California State Mining & Geology Board.
  • Vineyard development, and slope stability investigation.
  • Reservoir/dam investigation and construction observation and repair evaluation and oversight.
